How does a .be domain name transfer work?
When transferring a domain name, you can have a new registrar to manage your domain name. The transfer procedure was changed on 14th of June 2011. You now need a transfer code (or authorization code) to start a domain name transfer. The following steps explain a domain name transfer :
- Check your e-mail address:
Visit www.dns.be and search for your domain name to consult your WHOIS details. The e-mail address seen next to "Registrant" will be used to send the transfer code to. If the e-mail address is incorrect, ask your current registrar to update your e-mail address. - Request your transfer code:
Via DNS or your current registrar, request a transfer code. The transfer code will be sent to the registrant's e-mail address by DNS. - Pass on the new transfer code to your new registrar:
The next step is to deliver the transfer code to your new registrar and to request a transfer. - Your new registrar will submit the request to DNS:
Your new registrar will start the transfer procedure. - Finish the transfer:
DNS will check whether the code provided by the new registrar corresponds with the domain name for which the transfer is being requested. If they correspond, the transfer is completed immediately.
A transfer can be completed within a couple of hours. All websites and/or mailboxes will remain active during a transfer procedure.
